Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a counseling session and how often will I meet with a therapist?
Counseling sessions are between 50 and 55 minutes long and the vast majority of clients meet with their therapist once per week. You are not required to meet at the same time/day each week, however many of our clients find it most convenient to arrange consistent sessions with their therapist.
How much does counseling cost?
Our standard fees for a 50 minute counseling session are $180 – $200 for a therapist with a Doctoral degree and $150 for a therapist with a Masters degree. However, counseling sessions are often covered by insurance. Cornerstone is in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and AETNA PPO policies. Most other insurance providers offer some out-of-network benefits, though the coverage is usually less than it would be for an in-network provider. For any HMO policy, a client would need to obtain a referral from their Primary Care Physician, and CCCOC is happy to assist with that process. Please note that at this time, Cornerstone does not accept any type of public aid, including Medicare or Medicaid.
What if I don’t have insurance that covers mental health care?
If a client does not have insurance and or demonstrates financial need, he or she may be eligible for our CAPS program. If interested in learning more about our CAPS program, please contact our main office and request for more information. Our CAPS program is based on a sliding fee scale and an application must be completed to be considered for the program.
