On Sunday morning we went to a church service in Acevedo Sector, and we sang along to lyrics such as “Gloria a ti solo, Jesuschristo.” Glory to you alone, Jesus Christ. And then we broke bread together and heard the story of the planting of this church at a time when the neighborhood was rife with drugs, violence, and occultism.
While worshipping with our new friends, playing futból with children in various parts of the city, or eating supper at the homes of the coaches, I have been repeatedly reminded of a profound truth. Even though we live on different continents, speak different languages, have different cultures… even though we may look different, we see the same. The Holy Spirit who lives in the hearts of Believers everywhere, gives us eyes to see the world differently. We worship the God who created everyone and everything, and we grow in a desire to show and speak the Gospel of God’s peace to the world.
