The world around us seems to be stuck in a tug-of-war between two inescapable crisis needs: restrictive measures to avoid the spread of a still little-understood virus, and restorative measures to avoid economic collapse. In both cases lives and livelihoods are at stake. In both cases the goal is to safe-guard people. Local and national authorities will continue to make decisions. There will be some successes, and some mistakes. But let us pray for local and national leaders instead of vilifying those we hate or idolizing those we love. Hold your temper. Keep a sense of humor. And fix your eyes on Jesus Christ. During shelter-in-place our procedures for doing church may have changed, but our purpose has not! We may use different methods, but it’s the same Gospel message!
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.”
2 Thessalonians 2:16 – 3:1 (NIV)
Grace & Peace to you all,
